Sick of the usual eggs Benny with a side of basic? US TOO. Thankfully, the benevolent brunch gods have smiled upon their meek Shanghai subjects and blessed us with not one, but two chill one-off brunches going down this very weekend.
Fly by Jing x elEfante
Say what? The popular elEfante brunch series returns, this time hosting Sichuan sister Jenny Gao and her popup, Fly by Jing. That betch is cooking up 10 different creations inspired by the cuisine of her homeland, including egg with matsutake mushrooms and salmon caviar, kungpao soft shell crab, mapo-flavor arancini (rice balls), slow-braised pork dumpkings, smoked eggplant, 'sweet water' noodles and more.
How much? RMB250/per person, including one drink.
When? Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am-3.30pm, elEfante.
Get Shucked at Liquid Laundry
Say what? This Sunday, world champion oyster shucker (ugh, #lifegoals) Mr Marcel Lesoille is in the house, shucking things up for both brunch and dinner. Mr Lesoille will be turning his deft hands to plumpy and juicy bivalves from Brittany ('Argent') and Canada ('Fanny Bay'), priced from RMB68 for three.
Each oyster purchase entitles you to a special price on selected drinks: RMB30 for Nitro Punch Out Stout; or RMB50 for a glass of Prosecco. Chef Simon Sunwoo's regular brunch service takes care of the rest.
When? Sunday 23 October, 10.30am-3pm, 6-10pm, Liquid Laundry

News reaches us from Equilibrium Café of a new brunch they've recently rolled out. They've got sets like the 'Maneater' (above, two eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, mushrooms, fruit salad, grilled tomato and tea, coffee or juice) for RMB108, to which you can unwisely add two hours of free-flow Prosecco for RMB128. À la carte bits and pieces, like their righteous almond croissants are priced from RMB15.
